HRI Chairman, Mr Marcus Blackmore spoke at the board of governors meeting following Dr Reid's passing away on 12 March 2005. "The character and the life of Bruce Reid was wonderfully eulogised at his memorial service on 17 March at St Stephens Church, Macquarie Street, Sydney. Bruce was a generous man of great compassion and sincerity, he was entrepreneurial in business but it was his self-sacrificing nature that led him to undertake so many worthy causes during his lifetime. He was a splendid man, of great intellect and a big heart who has left behind a truly amazing legacy. His genial personality and his most able leadership will be greatly missed by all of us at HRI."
