PhD Student Tessa Barrett awarded prestigious scholarship

 

 

Tessa Barrett from the Inflammation Group has been awarded a PhD student summer scholarship to travel to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) in China. As part of the Bioscience & Medicine International Summer Academic Exchanges Program, Tessa will spend a week visiting several scientific research institutes including the Shanghai Institute of Haematology, Institute of Health Sciences and Shanghai Cancer Institute, as well as attending lectures. This year the programme focuses on students studying tissue engineering, cardiovascular disease, stem cells and cancer.

 

Jiao Tong University is one of China’s elite China 9 universities with 21 colleges and departments and more than 3000 graduate students. The students will also be given the opportunity to experience some of the local customs and sights with visits planned in and around Shanghai city. Jiao Tong University conducts the exchange programme as a method of enhancing academic exchanges, intensify cultural diffusion and harvesting friendships. The Summer school begins on July 16, 2011 and runs for a week.
