Research Assistant

Biography

Paola Cabrera Corres is a Biomedical Engineer and research intern at the Heart Research Institute under the supervision of Assoc/Prof Carmine Gentile. She specializes in 3D bioprinting, tissue engineering, and in vitro cancer models. During her undergraduate research, she developed chaotic-printed hydrogel fibres seeded with MCF-7 breast cancer spheroids, focusing on spatial heterogeneity, vascular mimicry, and drug response.

Her work merges cancer biology and biofabrication to better understand tumor microenvironments. Paola has also contributed to lung cancer genetics research at Edge Hill University (UK) and participated in international mobility programs in Europe. She joins the Gentile Lab with the goal of strengthening her skills in cardiac tissue modelling and regenerative medicine.
