Biography
Katie combines her strong professional experiences across many connected industries to her growing research capabilities as an early career researcher to provide a unique perspective to implementing leading Indigenous research practice. Her research interests are focused on participatory research action and collaborative research initiatives where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community participation is at the forefront of design and implementation that is mutually beneficial and deliver real tangible outcomes to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Katie has a particular interest in governance structures that share power and give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative decision-making authority.
Katie is a leader, collaborator, a strategist and a researcher committed to ongoing learning with people and Country. She is interested in bringing these skills together to lead equitable outcomes and sustainable solutions through research. Katie has gained extensive experiences across a range of professional and community sectors and saw opportunities to address the ever-increasing intersections of cultural, social, economic and environment challenges through an engaged and collaborative approach. She is committed to driving proven solutions that are led by those who it effects the most to influence systems and structures that do not seem to be equally benefiting all members of communities.
Katie holds Merriganowry belonging with the Wiradyuri nation in what is now known as Central West NSW.
