Project summary

Medial vascular calcification is increasingly recognised as a problem with aging in patients with CVD, such as atherosclerosis, as well as in diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney diseases.

Importantly, medial calcification is associated with the morbidity and mortality of these patients. For the development of new and better therapeutics, understanding how calcification is regulated in blood vessels needs to be further investigated.

This project seeks to investigate the contribution of TNF-ligands to vascular calcification in vascular smooth muscle cells.
